Used this drive as a replacement for the Toshiba mini HDD in my Apple iPod Classic 80GB (6 Gen). Rather than using an adapter and compact flash to achieve the SSD upgrade, I found the SuperTalent ZT4. It was cheaper than 80GB of Compact Flash and required fewer parts and fitting. It also provides 128GB of storage, an increase of over 50% over the original.

 I simultaneously installed a new battery (from Insten) and was able to use a 5th Gen battery with more capacity because the Super Talent SSD is smaller than the original Toshiba HDD. The speed of starting up, loading tracks, switching tracks is incredible and the new battery life is nothing short of amazing. I played over 400 songs before needing a recharge. That would get me to California and partway back by car with my road tunes without a single recharge. While disassembling the old iPods is a bit tricky, swapping out the drive is not. Be aware that the original silicon inserts for the Toshiba do not fit the Super Talent SSD perfectly, but once you reassemble the case, the inserts properly protect the drive

I was originally worried about my Dell D430 having an older ZIF hard drive. But thankfully, Super Talent had an available option for it. It's worth noting that this drive is actually manufactured by Seagate. I guess they produce them for Super Talent. Anyways, my laptop now has a new lease on life. Considering I bought it second hand from a friend for cheap because it came with a dead HDD, this was a worthy investment.


The SSD works just fine and is pretty snappy. Installed Windows 7 Pro x64 from a USB with no issues. 117GB free storage after formatting. Plenty of space for my needs on this old machine. Shipped in two days! I'm really glad this company still offers this drive, as 1.8" ZIF drives are hard to come by these days. Very pleased with this product, and highly recommended!

For people interested my iPod classic slim 80gb hard drive failed a few years ago. I did not want to replace it with a spinning head. I have had two different iPods, this classic and an iPod video 40g (that I loved and used almost every day till it failed) that he’s failed. once this came up at under a hundred bucks from amazon I decided to order it. Took forever to be fulfilled, ordered late April delivered early June, but now I have a 120gb useable iPod classic with an SSD. much faster and the battery seems to last forever. I did change the battery, the case is not easy to open, to a 540mah and the SSD at the same time. I think the iPod software doesn't know what is going on since the SSD uses less energy and the battery is bigger so it can't exactly calibrate. 2+ 40 minute albums played with the battery in very small red then empty before iPod turned off. If you are looking for a zif SSD this seems to be great so far.

Forget that ZIF -> CF adapters... try this one.... this one makes the Classic amazing. Fast bootup and now I don't have to worry about dropping it. Even compared to a hard drive, the price is comparable and unlike the hard drive, this is durable and FAST. Seriously. iTunes and the iPod both had no problems with it and I'm already up and running again faster than it took me to type this review (which is pretty good considering I type at 100wpm)


My 7th generation iPod Classic loves this (slim profile one). So if you have the dual platter sized back, you may need some kind of filler in the back since this is the size of a single platter drive.... but seriously.... if you own a Classic, get this. Seriously.

Unclaimed, Stolen & Returned Packages

  • Any shipment that is refused or cannot be delivered AND is returned by the carrier will be considered an unauthorized return.
  • If a package is returned to us because it was unclaimed by the customer, the customer must pay return shipping charges. We provide tracking numbers via email and/or via order status link on our homepage. It is the customer’s responsibility to track the package and be aware of its whereabouts.
  • If a package is stolen from the client’s porch/apartment complex and the client has not paid a $3 signature required fee than the fault lies on the client and we will not reimburse. It is the responsibility of the client to follow tracking numbers which are emailed prior to packages leaving our warehouse. If a $3 fee was paid we will file a claim with the shipper and re-ship products as soon as possible.

Changing a Delivery Address ( USA & INTERNATIONAL)

  • Once an order has shipped, any change of address will be subject to a 20% fee plus applicable taxes. This is due to a minimum change of address fee charged by nearly all courier and freight companies. Billing information will also need to be re-verified if you are changing your delivery address. 

DELIVERY & RECEIPT OF ORDER

  • Your package may or may not require a signature. Most packages are delivered to the mailbox or front door of the address provided, however, it is up to the delivery courier to decide if the package is safe being left in the open. If they deem it unsafe, they will hold the package at a local post office or re-schedule another delivery. Our best recommendation is to input a shipping address where you know you or someone else will be available to accept the package (a work address or a friend's address). 
  • You are responsible for inspecting the shipment during delivery by the shipping company for damages, both obvious and hidden. PROBLEM REPORTING

RETURN POLICY

We suggest that you make a copy of the packing slip for your records.     RETURN DELAY
