Crocodiles are large aquatic reptiles that live throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. Although they appear to be similar to the untrained eye, crocodiles and alligators belong to separate biological families. The most obvious external differences are visible in the head with crocodiles having narrower and longer heads, with a more V-shaped than a U-shaped snout compared to alligators and caimans.
Despite their prehistoric look, crocodiles are among the more biologically complex reptiles. Unlike other reptiles, a crocodile has a cerebral cortex, a four-chambered heart. Crocodiles are ambush predators, waiting for fish or land animals to come close, then rushing out to attack.
Crocodiles mostly eat fish, amphibians, crustaceans, mollusks, birds, reptiles, and mammals, and they occasionally cannibalize on smaller crocodiles.

Many benefits have been shown through puppet play with children. The awesome thing about puppet play is that the parent (or therapist or teacher) can control the context of the conversation and dialog and so many lessons and skills can be learned from puppet play. The Incredible Years explains:
Preschool children are working to accomplish the important developmental milestones of learning social and friendship skills including beginning to share, help others, initiate social interactions, listen, and cooperate with peers. They are also working on emotional regulation skills including emotional literacy, self-control over aggressive behaviors, ability to wait and accept limits, and beginning problem solving skills.
One of the ways to promote your preschool childs social and emotional skills is through the use of puppet play. Puppet play is effective because it helps the parent/teacher enter into the childs imaginary world and allows children to experience the feelings of other characters (early empathy development) and learn important social behaviors and conversation skills.
With puppets, dolls, or action figures you can act out stories you are reading with children, make up fantasies, and explore solutions to pretend problems. You may be nervous at first using puppets, but try it out and before long you will experience the joy of entering into your childs thoughts, feelings and imagination, one of the most intimate places you can be at this age?
As you can see, there are many areas of development that puppet play can emphasize. Here at CLASS Inc., we use puppet play in a variety of contexts with our clients to improve their speech, social, and language skills. Here is how some of these development areas are targeted in puppet play.
