Question:  What is the cut out size in the door for the ddxlw

Answer: 11 1/4 x 17 1/2" is the cutout

Answer:  Build a frame to use as a spacer inside the door. Make the door thicker with 3/4 strips.

This door was very easy to install and is a good quality door. I like the aluminum frame because I have an old plastic one that eventually cracked. My dog is on the line as far as weight limit (35lbs) and I bought the medium door. Sadly, I had to return the door with my dog still in it. :( Well, ok I kept the dog, but I had to size up for her. I will use the smaller door for my Shih-Tzu who is 15 lbs. It seems more like the right size for a 15 to 20 lb dog. At least I needed two pet doors. I am returning the small door of another brand that I bought for my Shih-Tzu. Just saying..size up, not down if your pet is on the line

Wish we would have taken the leap and bought this years ago as it would have saved us from having to replace carpet from senior, diabetic accidents, however, we are thoroughly pleased with this purchase. The original door flap was warped but not worth sending back for a replacement so we dealt with it. This was fairly easy to install however installing in an aluminum door with a reciprocating saw proved a little more difficult than I envisioned so it's slightly crooked but serves it's purposed. Our lab caught on right away however, our boxer is a little more timid so it took a little coaxing but within a couple days, she had it down. Now they go in and out all day long.

We had an indoor cat but since we purchased this, we have a wanderer that comes to visit when he's hungry or wants a belly rub...yes, he's neutered, has been vaccinated and was not declawed and no he doesn't wander very far, he just likes the freedom to do so.

Great product & price. If you live in an area that often has extreme temperatures, you might go for the Ruff Weather model.

Glad I got the aluminum not the plastic

Size: Super Large - 15" x 20" Flap Size

This has exceeded my expectations. We have 3 extra-large dogs that weigh around 150 lbs each, and love to rough-house. I gave the plastic flap over the entrance a week before it was torn down (just from the dogs running in and out and fighting over who would be the first one in (or out). It's been up about 2 months now, and has done great. I had to bend the bottom back straight (on the flap) because one dog was trying to go out while one dog was trying to come in, and they bent it in half. But it bent back and holds closed. It has a magnet at the bottom that holds the flap closed, and works pretty darn well even in our West Texas wind! It was fairly easy to put in. And I'm glad I went with the aluminum instead of the cheaper plastic version. I don't know how well the plastic would have held up, but I can tell this aluminum one will be around forever!

Installation instructions were excellent and the overall installing was very easy. The aluminum construction appears to be sturdy and should stand up to lots of punishment by our Beagles. I have had plastic doggie doors in the past and they did not last. I feel sure that the new Ideal aluminum model will be great. I installed it on a metal clad storm door that is approximately 1/2" thick. By bending and breaking off one section of the doggie door frame, per the instructions, I was able to obtain a perfect fit for this thin storm door. I used a Dremel to cut off the excess length of the installation screws

When will my order be processed?

We process orders between Monday and Friday. Orders will be processed within 1-2 business days from the order date and shipped the next day after the processing day. Please note that we don’t ship on weekends.

If the item is damaged beyond the point of being in working or usable condition, please refuse delivery and immediately notify The Rike. We will work with the shipping provider to replace the item for you.

Failure to notate any defects could result in a significant reduction in the carrier’s liability during damage claims. You are responsible for filing any loss or damage claims in the manner and time frame directed by the carrier. You are responsible for any concerns, issues, or charges for the shipments and agree to hold The Rike, its suppliers, and its vendors harmless.

Shipping companies do not allow third-parties to file or get involved in a damage claim. The Rike is a third party in the shipment of most of the items it sells. The Rike will willingly assist you with the filing and handling of the claims based on your needs and requests.

Problem Reporting

Problems or concerns must be reported by email to The Rike within 15 days of receipt of the item. If you call to report an item damaged in transit we do not consider the report official until we have confirmation of damages and have sent you a confirmation email.

Any reports of malfunction may require a detailed inspection report from a qualified technician. You agree to cooperate with problem identification and correction efforts.

    Lost or Stolen Packages

    Return RMA

    A return merchandise authorization # (RMA #) will be issued for ALL returns. Please do not send back any items without an RMA#. Customer is responsible for all return shipping costs unless the item arrives DOA or DAMAGED. Once the item is received back to our warehouse a technician will verify if defective. Please allow 72 hours (longer during Holiday seasons) for this process. Once verified as defective a Replacement or Refund of the SAME item will be issued free of cost to the customer.
